Interactive Adventures is a Kamloops-based travel company that enables its guests to see new places, try new things, and meet new people.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We create thoughtfully planned, small-group tours across British Columbia and beyond. We take care of the routes, transportation, logistics, and little details that can make travel feel complicated, so you can arrive curious, feel looked after, and spend more time living the experience.<\/p>\n

We believe travel should do more than take you somewhere new. It should expand your horizons, pull you into the moment and connect you with people you may never have met otherwise, leaving you feeling more alive, grounded and open to the world than you did before. \nWHAT WE DO<\/strong><\/p>\n

We create small-group adventures starting from Kamloops or Vancouver. Our trips combine transportation, accommodation, carefully selected destinations, active experiences, and opportunities to connect with the places and the people travelling alongside you.<\/p>\n

We take care of the planning of the smallest to biggest practical details that can sometimes make travel feel difficult to access, including routes, how to get there, schedules, permits, equipment and group coordination.<\/p>\n

Whether you do not have a car, do not want to plan an entire trip or simply want to share the experience with others, we make it easier to say yes.<\/p>\n

Our adventures are organized, but full of fun and time for relaxation. We create space for shared experiences, spontaneous moments and personal time, so you can participate in the group while still enjoying the journey in your own way.<\/p>\n

We believe life becomes richer when people step beyond the familiar.<\/p>\n

Travel can bring joy, curiosity and a sense of discovery. It can help us slow down, reconnect with our environment and remember what it feels like to live fully in the moment.<\/p>\n

But meaningful travel is not always easy to do. Planning, finding like-minded people, and working with logistics can make someone apprehensive about taking the trip they have been thinking about.<\/p>\n

Interactive Adventures was created to remove some of those barriers and provide fulfilling experiences.<\/p>\n

We want to create opportunities for people to explore more, feel welcome and form genuine connections through shared experiences. We want our guests to return home with more than photographs. We want them to carry back friendships, stories and a new appreciation for the world around them.<\/p>\n

We design every experience with care, flexibility and intention.<\/p>\n

We choose destinations and activities that offer more than a quick sightseeing stop, and our trips encourage people to participate, explore, connect, and experience the environment with curiosity.<\/p>\n

We keep our group travels welcoming, provide clear information about what guests can expect and remain available and responsive throughout the experience. We combine thoughtful preparation with the flexibility to make room for the unexpected moments that often become the best parts of a trip!<\/p>\n

Sustainability is part of how we travel and how we want to grow.<\/p>\n

We believe that enjoying natural places comes with a responsibility to protect them and leave them better than we found them. We encourage respectful travel, responsible waste practices and a leave-no-trace mindset. Wherever possible, we aim to reduce unnecessary impact, support local tourism businesses and collaborate with people and organizations connected to the places we visit.<\/p>\n

OUR PEOPLE<\/strong><\/p>\n

James Gjaltema<\/strong><\/p>\n

James Gjaltema is a travel enthusiast. He has been to over 60 countries and continues to explore through new adventures. As a Kamloops-based entrepreneur, educator, traveler, and tourism professional, James is passionate about creating meaningful experiences that bring people together. His background spans tourism, transportation, education, travel, technology, and intercultural programming, including work with Thompson Rivers University as an ESL instructor and involvement with the Intercultural Council.<\/p>\n

James is the program coordinator for the TRU LEAP program where he plans and leads 50 to 60 activities and trips each year for students. He also founded the Kamloops Travel Club which brings travel enthusiasts and industry professionals together at regular meet-ups.<\/p>\n

As the founder of Interactive Adventures Ltd., James combines his experience in travel and education with a passion for exploration and connection. His goal is to make adventure more accessible while helping people discover new places, meet new people, and step outside their comfort zones.<\/p>\n

Amrita Kaur<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amrita has a law background from India and is currently pursuing her MBA at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops. But alongside that professional path, travel has always been a deeply personal interest for her. She has loved discovering new places from a young age, and has always been drawn to the people side of experiences \u2014 making others feel welcome, looked after, and part of something memorable.<\/p>\n

As Director of Growth, Brand & Operations at Interactive Adventures, Amrita works across business growth, brand strategy, operations, and experience development. She enjoys shaping ideas, spotting opportunities, finding creative ways to bring them to life, and helping create experiences that feel welcoming, memorable, and a little different from the ordinary. Her work brings together many of the things she loves most \u2014 people, places, business, creativity, and, of course, a good adventure.<\/p>\n

Tom\u00a0Beeke<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tom Beeke is a naturalist, educator, and author with a passion for sharing nature with others. He has travelled extensively throughout Canada and internationally and enjoys helping people discover wildlife and wild places.<\/p>\n

Tom recently published Birds of Kamloops and the TNRD, a comprehensive photographic guide covering every bird species recorded in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District. He also works as an Activities Teacher for the International Student Program in Kamloops, where he leads 40\u201350 activities and trips each year, many of them multi-day, outdoor, and nature-focused.<\/p>\n
