This is a trip for anyone who loves wildlife, tropical forests, beautiful scenery, great food, and adventure. While I am a diehard birder,\u00a0<strong>this is not primarily a birding trip<\/strong>. Birds and other wildlife will be pointed out throughout the journey, but there will also be plenty of opportunities to simply relax, explore, and enjoy this amazing part of the world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019ll experience a wonderful variety of Borneo, from relaxing beach resorts and snorkeling in the South China Sea to wildlife boat safaris deep into pristine jungle.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Wild Orangutans<\/strong>\u00a0in their natural rainforest habitat<\/li>\n<li><strong>Asian Pygmy Elephants<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Several species of monkeys, including the endemic\u00a0<strong>Proboscis Monkey<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The incredibly small\u00a0<strong>Western Tarsier<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Saltwater Crocodiles<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Colorful\u00a0<strong>kingfishers<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Numerous\u00a0<strong>hornbill species<\/strong>, including the spectacular\u00a0<strong>Rhinoceros Hornbill<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Herons and many other tropical birds<\/li>\n<li>Night walks searching for the fascinating creatures that become active after dark<\/li>\n<li>A visit to a\u00a0<strong>botanical garden in the tropical rainforest<\/strong>, including fascinating carnivorous pitcher plants<\/li>\n<li>A scenic drive toward\u00a0<strong>Mount Kinabalu<\/strong>, rising to nearly 4,100 meters (13,400 feet)<\/li>\n<li>Snorkeling and relaxing along the coast<\/li>\n<li>Excellent Malaysian food and plenty of opportunities to experience the local culture<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Borneo Big Five<\/strong><br \/>\nBorneo has its own incredible &#8220;Big Five,&#8221; and we&#8217;ll have opportunities to see all five:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Saltwater Crocodile<\/li>\n<li>Asian Pygmy Elephant<\/li>\n<li>Orangutan<\/li>\n<li>Rhinoceros Hornbill .<\/li>\n<li>Proboscis Monkey<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Conservation Matters<\/strong><br \/>\nWe&#8217;ll stay at accommodations and visit places that take nature conservation<br \/>\nseriously.
