Begin with a stop at the Kamloops Lake Viewpoint<\/strong>, where the highway opens onto a spectacular panorama of the lake and the dry, rugged Thompson Valley. Kamloops Lake stretches approximately 29 km through the Interior landscape, with railway lines tracing both sides of the lake\u2014a reminder of how important this corridor has been for transportation and settlement.<\/p>\n Next, discover one of the area’s strangest natural landmarks: Balancing Rock<\/strong>. This enormous boulder appears to perch impossibly on top of a narrow clay hoodoo, the result of thousands of years of erosion. Savona has a fascinating transportation history and sits in a landscape shaped by railways, ranching, the river, and the dramatic dry Interior climate.<\/p>\n Then it’s time for a uniquely local food stop at the Desert Hills Taco Stand<\/strong>. Located alongside Desert Hills Ranch near Cache Creek, this popular roadside stop combines a farm-market atmosphere with Mexican-inspired food. It’s a fun opportunity to grab tacos and explore some of the local agricultural products and flavours of the region.<\/p>\n The final destination is Pavilion Lake<\/strong>, one of BC’s most unusual and scientifically fascinating lakes. Famous for its remarkably clear blue-green water, Pavilion Lake contains strange underwater formations called microbialites<\/strong>\u2014structures created by microorganisms. Scientists have studied these formations because they provide clues about ancient microbial ecosystems and the history of life on Earth.
